Charity shops get a huge volume of donations, our technology tells them what to sell on thriftify and they decide if the quality is good. Our aim is for every item on thriftify to be in excellent condition at a minimum.

About our Gems

All our gems are used-excellent as standard, and most of these are as good as new. Generally books in this category will have been read only once, and will always be very well looked after. The same rule applies to our CDs, DVDs, Games and general Gems. You can expect that any item you buy that doesn’t have a condition note is in this condition. Sometimes, our charity shops might find an item they believe deserves a second-life but not be in excellent condition. For gems in this category such as clothing, here is what the different condition notes should mean:

Condition Category GuideVery Good
A well-cared-for item that has seen limited use but remains in great condition. The item is complete, unmarked, and undamaged, but may show some limited signs of wear. Item works perfectly.

Good
The item shows wear from consistent use, but it remains in good condition and works perfectly. It may be marked, have identifying markings on it, or show other signs of previous use.

Used
The item is fairly worn but continues to work perfectly. Signs of wear can include aesthetic issues such as scratches, dents, and worn corners. The item may have identifying markings on it or show other signs of previous use.
