The McCaffrey Family has been crafting for 5 generations. We have a deep history in making Irish Blackthorn walking sticks and Tweed Wool Tailoring. Authentic Blackthorn Walking Sticks are hard to find as they are seen as an invasive species in many countries and only grow in South West Ireland nowadays. There are many shillelaghs online made from woods such as hazel , ash and hawthorn and made to look like a real blackthorn but they are just imitations painted to look like a finished blackthorn walking stick. McCaffrey Crafts is one of the only authentic blackthorn walking stick makers still in existence in Ireland. We have plenty of blackthorn picked form the Cork and Kerry Mountains and are skilled at finding the best places to source wild Blackthorn wood. Finding real Blackthorn is the hard part the pleasure is in making our signature Blackthorn Walking Sticks. Each stick is a one of a kind hand carved walking stick. All of our products are literally made in Ireland, yes I know you will find that hard to believe. Our T-Shirts are mare for us in a 100,000 sq foot manufacturer in Kildare. Our Aran wool wear is made also in Ireland. Tweed is supplied by the local woolen mills located just 5 miles away. In the age of mass production and outsourcing to other counties McCaffrey Crafts is on a crusade to promote Irish Made Products and supporting local jobs. We primarily make blackthorn walking stick but also used local manufacturers for our product range.
